KERZHAKOV: THERE WAS NO SENSE IN STAYING IN ZENIT

The 23-year-old goalkeeper Mikhail Kerzhakov will play in Alaniya Vladikavkaz next season.


"I will come to Moscow on Thursday to meet with Alaniya representatives", said Kerzhakov. "We will discuss terms of my contract and then I hope I will make for pre-season preparations with my new team".

"Alaniya was the only club which made concrete offer, though I have variants of continuing my career in the First Division".

"My contract with Zenit will run until the end of 2010, so I will go to Vladikazkaz on a loan".

"There was no sense in staying in Zenit, since the club now has three goalkeepers – Yuriy Zhevnov, Vyacheslav Malafeev and Dmitriy Borodin".

"I took part in all our training camps and I hope to compete with Malafeev and Borodin for a place in the goal, but when Zenit acquired Yuriy Zhevnov, I understood that I need to leave. Moreover Alaniya showed their interested in me before that".
